Research Finds Pilates Can Improve Orgasmic Ability, Libido in Women

Pilates is a form of body conditioning and exercise that was developed in the 20th century. This disciplined practice focuses on different areas of the body, improving an individual’s strength, flexibility and muscle tone while also alleviating pains and aches. This exercise has become increasingly popular in recent years, primarily because it can be done at home and is great for beginners. It can also be customized to fit an individual’s health goals, regardless of one’s sex, age, level of fitness and health status.

Pilates has many benefits apart from the ones listed above, including improving one’s posture and mobility as well as strengthening and stabilizing an individual’s core. Now, a new study has found that practicing this exercise a few times a week may help women overcome various sexual struggles.

The study was carried out by urologists from Turkey. The objective of the research was to determine whether there was a link between Pilates and libido, particularly in women. For their study, the investigators recruited 36 women between 20 and 50 years of age.

The eligibility criteria included those with regular menstruation cycles and participants who had regular sex with consistent partners and had reported various symptoms of sexual dysfunction for six or more months. These symptoms included pain during sex, low sex drive and difficulty reaching orgasm.

Each of the women was required to take part in a one-hour Pilates class two times a week for a three-month period. This is in addition to avoiding other physical activities during the study period. The Pilates classes specifically targeted pelvic floor muscles, which is said to have increased blood circulation and flow to the region and, in turn, increased arousal and sensitivity. The participants were also required to complete surveys prior to and after the experiment, which included questions on how satisfied they were with their current sex lives.

The researchers discovered that practicing Pilates two times a week evidently helped the women overcome their sexual struggles. The participants reported that they saw drastic improvements in their sex lives after only three months. In their report, the researchers highlighted that women who experienced pain during intercourse recorded a 116% decline in their symptoms while those with low libido saw a 136% increase in their sex drives. Additionally, women who found it difficult to reach orgasm reported a 140% increase in their ability to climax.

The researchers’ findings were reported in the “Journal of Andrology.”

When interventions such as Pilates don’t yield the desired results, there are other alternatives available, such as the remedies commercialized by entities such as Jupiter Wellness Inc. (NASDAQ: JUPW). Women should know that sexual dysfunction can be managed or even reversed.
